Hank Henry, Jr.

In the Foundation's first large effort, the M.L. "Hank" Henry, Jr. Fund for Judicial Internships was created. Named after Hank Henry, a former Executive Director of the Fund for Modern Courts, the Fund will continue Hank's efforts to have the lesbian and gay community represented in the judiciary by offering a $3,500 stipend for a 10-week summer judicial internship to an LGBT law student each year. In the 80's, Hank was instrumental in ensuring that lesbian and gay candidates for judicial office were seriously considered for appointments to the bench. Hank's legacy has led to the presence of many openly lesbian and gay lawyers on the bench in the Metropolitan area. The Foundation awarded its first internship for the summer of 1997.  Click Here for Application
